Teaching Experience

I have experience teaching Math and Economics to IB students as well as college students over 4+ years. I have been a course assistant and have graded problem sets up to the college level at Princeton.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe in teaching concepts and making sure that the foundations of topics are strong.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Layout a plan of goals and how they can be best achieved.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I believe in teaching concepts and making foundations strong for students rather than hand-holding through every problem. This ensures that students solve problems on their own.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Using examples that are relevant and relatable.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Find a different way to teach it so that its easier to understand. I also try making the student teach me what they have understood so far to gauge where gaps in understanding exist.

Taking things slow

Laying out a road map of goals is critical to give success a greater chance

By offering examples that are relevant and relatable

Make the student teach it back to me

Make the student teach it back to me. Do problems that are slightly beyond their reach but not too far.

Understanding the student’s interests and what drives them allows me to adapt my tutoring
