I believe that all children are unique and have something special that they can bring to their own education. I will assist my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others. I believe that there are some essential elements that are crucial to learning. Firstly, the teacher's role is to act as a guide. Also, students should have access to hands-on activities. Learners should be able to have alternatives and let their interest direct their learning. Students need the chance to practice skills in a safe environment. Technology must be integrated into the learning environment.
I start to introduce myself and find out what my student’s aims are. Then I explain how sessions will work. I bring some resources which could be helpful to check the level the student is currently working at. I teach them something new just to show my abilities and I leave some home learning.
I give the learners choices and encourage them to set their own learning objectives. Even sometimes I might involve them in lesson planning.
The most powerful way of it to give constructive and positive feedback is by praising them for their efforts and hard work.
In these kind of cases, I try to ask questions that require students to think. Struggling students need to practice thinking on their own. The more they take the time to think about their answers, the easier time they will have when trying to come up with solutions to the answer.
At this point, I don’t encourage students to look words up. They will constantly come to words they don’t know when reading a foreign language, just as they do in their native language. They should try to use the context to determine the meaning as much as possible.
To give students personalized feedback is the best way that I have experienced so far.
I try to find things they’re interested in, as every learner is unique.
I use quizzes, mainly Kahoot and self-made assessments, also I ask students to reflect.
Students who don’t have a lot of confidence tend to focus on only the negative aspects of what they are doing. Giving short feedback but by always being realistic always works.
I define a specific learning objective for each unit, such as “by the end of this lesson, I’ll be able to …”. I provide examples of excellent, good, and unsatisfactory work.
