My teaching method involves a student-centered approach to learning where students actively participate in class discussions and present their findings. As an IB MYP/DP mathematics instructor, my planned curriculum engages students with TOK connections linked in each module, which is fundamentally about critical thinking and inquiry in the process of knowing rather than learning a specific body of knowledge. For the IB MYP math classes, I have learned to incorporate ATL’s skills in my lessons to make my students learn the art of being lifelong learners. I also conduct technology sessions for the students to guide them on MYP math e-assessments. I prefer to start the mathematical exploration (internal assessment) in the last quarter of the first year and end it in the first quarter of the second year to provide students with enough time to showcase their skills. It also helps them to focus only on their exams scheduled at the end of the second year. Extended Essay is the core component of the IB DP program, and I encourage my students to choose a topic of their interest in group 5. Lastly, technology is not limited only to GDC calculators, but I provide demonstrations of mathematical software such as GeoGebra to link abstract concepts to mathematical modeling of the real world. This approach helps students feel connected and involved in the subject while learning necessary skills for internal assessments and IA’s.
I will identify students' specific needs by using the diagnostic methodology. Make sure that we both are on the same level. We will plan the learning journey together, along with its learning outcomes. Ensure a productive and supportive learning environment where they are comfortable and reach success.
It encourages the student to think critically and practice problem-solving. Students will engage with resources I would provide them during the lessons that would empower them to use them independently.
Setting up small goals and helping students achieve those goals that make them feel confident and productive, Exam-style questions linked with content will significantly affect students' progress.
Go back to the foundations using a bottom-up approach and connecting complex situations with real-life scenarios so that students can visualize the solution.
By using scaffolding techniques and differentiated tasks based on their level.
They start by listening to students' problems and mutually identifying areas where they need help. Make them believe they are at the right place and can improve.
Linking concepts with real-life scenarios and letting them know they can also solve problems if they put in the extra effort. Being patient, encouraging, and motivating students to achieve success.
Using formative assessments and asking students questions if they understood the topic, Breaking down complex concepts into small, easily understandable ones.
Make them practice as much as possible, as the saying practice makes it perfect. Make them solve independently.
Break the ice between the student and the teacher and ensure I am on the same level as my student.
Break the ice between the student and the teacher and ensure I am on the same level as my student.
I use Graphic Tablet for content writing, videos, books, revision notes, and worksheets.
Sir Bilawal taught me math's AA HL during my DP1 and part of my DP2; during that time, he made the subject much more manageable. He provides reasoning for real-world applications of mathematical concepts and often interlinks them. He cleared most of my misconceptions about math with him, and his techniques still help me. It was a great experience being taught under him as he makes learning math feel less like a chore and more like a fun process.
I was weak in fundamentals and struggled in my AI SL course, Luckily, I found Sir Bilawal, and there was an immense improvement in my grade from 2 to 5. The best thing about his teaching is that he keeps it simple and builds up from the fundamentals. He linked his examples to real life and helped me to use the GDC calculator, which was a great relief.
I am currently studying AA HL with Mr. Bilawal and am very satisfied with his teaching style. I have tried numerous teachers before, but he is perfect and makes me understand better. He uses technology to explain complex concepts, which is really helpful.
