Tutor Teaching Style
As a teacher of Language, I believe that practice results in improvement.
I will most likely conduct a diagnostic evaluation to ascertain the level, strengths and improvement areas of the learner.
Reinforcement of Teaching and learning is an appropriate way to help learners own their learning; therefore this will be done through assessments.
As a teacher, I will help the student understand how learning a new language can help him or her and by explaining how learning a new language is both rewarding and beneficial, i.e. both job and personal growth.
A variety of pedagogical procedures can be employed to facilitate learning. These may include, role playing and assessment differentiation.
The acquisition of vocabulary is essential to understand texts, therefore I encourage reading. Through this, the student will study and learn to appreciate this component of the subject.
Consistency in practicing concepts and principles explored is the single common characteristic of all successful students.
To keep students engaged, examples and scenarios explored during the lesson should be relatable to the student. Hence it is imperative to know the student's interests and likes.
Relevant assessments that tests the student's ability to apply learnt concepts to familiar and unfamiliar situations helps teachers evaluate their lessons.
I believe learning is a process that needs a lot of practice and understanding, which are pivot to boosting students' confidence. Practice creates an avenue for reinforcement and further identifying mistakes and working on these. Mistakes are a big part of learning. We all make them when we are learning and when the student is given the opportunity to own their learning and further build their confidence.
I will provide formative assessments to students after each lesson, in order to assess their understanding and levels based on topic studied. This will inform me on how to structure subsequent lessons.
I aim for success for my students therefore, I equip myself with a variety of instructional approaches which can be used for each student based on their necessity.
B prescribed books (Hodder and Oxford books) and other online teaching resource like In thinking, Tes resources and personally developed documents.
