I completed my Bachelors (Hons) as well as Masters in Physics from a reputed college of Delhi University (India). Post graduation, I worked as a Physics coach in Zee learn for a couple of years, wherein several topics of Physics were taught through practical experiments. During this time, I also cleared the Bank Officers Examination of India, which requires advanced Mathematical knowledge. Subsequently, I joined a reputed Indian Bank as a Forex Manager. However, after working for six years, I realized teaching is my true calling. Hence I quit my job at the bank and jumped full-time into teaching physics & mathematics via online platforms. Since then, I have not looked back and have tutored over 100 students worldwide over the past four years. These students span various curricula and grades, i.e., IGCSE (up to A level), Edexcel, IB DP (SL & HL), and IB MYP.

I have experience teaching Physics and mathematics for IB DP and MYP (SL and HL), IGCSE (AS, A level), SAABIS, Edexcel, and various other curricula worldwide. My entire teaching experience for the past four years has only been through online mode. As a result, I am well acquainted with all the necessary tools and measures to take while tutoring online. Following are the companies for which I have worked as an online tutor

Tutor Teaching Style
I believe that if the student has strong fundamental knowledge of the subject concerned, the application of concepts is not that difficult. I, therefore, emphasize more on the subject knowledge and fundamentals.
I enquire about the syllabus and exam date prior to my session. That helps me to decide whether it will be an exam-centric approach or a core-centric one. I have different methods or lesson plans according to my approach undertaken by me. If it is exam-centric, then I start with evaluating the student by giving him some questions from past papers to test his knowledge, his emphasis on practical applications of a problem, whether he can design an investigation himself, etc. If on the other hand, it is a core-centric approach, then I evaluate the student by giving him some questions from the fundamental concepts to see if he can indulge in a scientific approach towards the given problem, critical thinking, and acquire a creative mindset, etc.
The technique followed by me is an emphasis on the Core subject which we know is part of both SL and HL, I then encourage the students to try the questions from the additional topics themselves. This inculcates higher order thinking skills and the ability to indulge in advanced level questions and problems that can be relatable to the things happening around the world
I encourage inquisitive behavior and curiosity amongst students. This keeps them interested and motivated in the subject throughout the lessons.
I would break the concept into simple parts and then go stepwise through each part in detail. This will help the student grasp the required skills one at a time.
The questions and answers approach at the beginning of the session keep the students occupied; also giving familiar questions from past papers and mentioning the same also help the student to a great extent.
My past work experience from Zee learn Ltd is quite helpful here. It includes the following steps. Showing a practical problem that generates interest in the student. This may also involve an activity demonstrating a particular concept. Then slowly work with the student on the fundamentals and encourage him to apply the concepts to the problem concerned. helps to further develop the scientific approach and hence generate interest in the particular subject.
Usually, a practical approach to the delivery of the course would help here. For eg Models are developed by students to try and understand observations, and these themselves can then become theories that attempt to explain the observations. By incorporating this approach, the students learn from their own mistakes and develop critical thinking which is very much required to solve practical problems in and around the world.

As the IB curriculum focuses more on the investigative approach which may be laboratory based or students use simulations etc, students develop the skills to work independently on their own design, but also through collaboration with schools in different regions, to understand the way in which scientific research is conducted in the wider community. However, they may make mistakes, and errors and may also find out erroneous observations if any while collaborating with the wider group. On the other hand, they may also get accurate results. My work is to encourage them to learn from their mistakes and appreciate them for their independent thinking and this would help them feel more confident about the subject
A basic evaluation is conducted right at the beginning of the sessions where the questions formed may be part of their IA or from the past IB papers. This is repeated after every couple of topics are taught. This lets me analyze and evaluate their needs and expectations
I believe that every student is different. Therefore there is no one size fits all rule applicable to students. Based on how they have performed in the introductory evaluation test, I decide whether to go for the core-centric approach or exam-centric approach
There are multiple tools that I generally use during my tutoring sessions. Textbooks, pat papers, teaching resources, assignments and worksheets, whiteboards, ppts. Since I have extensive experience of years of teaching through the online mode, I sometimes use simulations too to explain a particular concept

Pallabi was really nice and easy to understand. In a short amount of time she was able to help and provide a more in depth explanation to a part of a concept. Also, really enjoyed and was engaging with the way she would include me and ask me questions along the way.
