I have been tutoring my peers since 6th grade, starting with after-school tutoring and eventually founding a peer-to-peer tutoring system during my IB years to help struggling students with their areas of weakness. During my university years, I consistently assisted my underclassmen by explaining topics, helping them with their assignments, and reviewing material with them in preparation for their exams. Eventually, I became a teacher’s assistant in my own right for a course titled “Advanced Mathematics for Engineers,” I held weekly tutorial sessions showing students how to approach problems related to the course and answer any theoretical questions. In total, I would say I have an equivalent of 4+ years of tutoring experience across my academic career in a variety of subjects.
1. Did lab work on the combustion of metal powders in a Hele-Shaw Cell 2. Specifically, to recognize the effect of solid inert particles such as silicon carbide on gas flame stability to pave the way for future research on flames with solid chemically reactive particles such as aluminum powders
Course: Math 264 - Advanced Calculus for Engineers 1. Gave weekly tutorial lectures to 20+ students. 2. Answered questions on the discussion board of our online platform. 3. Met with students outside of class to answer questions and clarify concepts. 4. Held review sessions for upcoming exams.

Understanding, compassion, and kindness are necessary to alleviate any worries or concerns a student may have. It is of utmost importance to relate the teaching to the student’s own unique set of circumstances to build upon prior knowledge instead of building isolated islands of information that may or may not be useful or translatable in other areas of life.
First, I would ask the student about themselves and their reasons for seeking tutoring: what are their weaknesses and what areas they would like help with. In essence, I would like to understand what areas concern the student to adapt to their specific needs. Afterward, we would create a plan of action and formulate an appropriate system to address any specific issues that may be on their minds. Finally, we would start the tutoring process at a convenient pace for the student.
By sharing studying strategies that have helped me in my own academic journey and inspiring them to seek learning as an end in itself and not as a means to get good grades. Grades are temporary; true knowledge lasts a lifetime. An example of an additional technique I can teach them is mindfulness and breathing exercises for anxiety and stress relief.
By relating their learning experience to things, they are actively passionate about in or outside of school.
After a few valid attempts at learning the concept, we would take a small break, relax and perhaps do some breathing and mindfulness exercises before trying again. If the difficulty persists, I will look for an alternative approach to convey the knowledge required. It is of utmost importance to play around the student’s strengths and weaknesses to leverage them to achieve great results.
By breaking down the concepts into easy and digestible pieces of information.
Ensuring that the student and the tutor are on the same page and that there is a system to address questions as they arise naturally.
By relating the subject in question to another subject that is more meaningful to the student.
Quizzing students on theory and practice is an efficient way to check their understanding.
By relating new concepts to old concepts and building a web of information, they can draw upon them whenever they get stuck. If you don’t know something, you can use other nodes in your web to figure it out.
By asking them questions and mindfully listening to their answers.
By paying attention to what clicks with them and what does not. This is essentially a process of trial and error.

Sam is such a good tutor! There's no doubt for me! He explained perfectly about my topic and solved my problem. He prepared the topic which is well done. I will keep working with him! Well done Sam!
Hi Sam, we're extremely thrilled with the final test marks and want to tell you that you played a significant role in our success. Thank you so much for exceeding our expectations and all your effort!
Sven likes him a lot and it seems he has a right method to explain complex concepts.
Sam was great; my daughter felt very motivated after the initial meeting.
Super engaging session! Things were explained very well and at a good pace.
Sam is very friendly, approachable, and ready to teach. I very much enjoyed my session with him since he did not just teach me the topics I needed help with but also some strategies to be mentally and physically healthy and ready to head on to my IB final exams. He sometimes went a bit too fast, but nonetheless, he was willing to repeat things in case they were not clear.
Very good, dedicated and knowledgeable tutor.
Very articulate and helpful in explaining new concepts. Super engaging and funny :) made math actually interesting
Sam was very prepared and ready to rapidly attend to any questions that I had during our sessions. I had the opportunity to meet with him for multiple sessions, and he always tried to review the topics that I needed help with in the fastest and most efficient way possible. I overall feel like he did positively impact my performance in the IB exams!
