0About Andrey
I'm a Portuguese Language and Literature teacher with over 12 years of experience, currently teaching both the traditional Brazilian curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Language A: Language and Literature course at a Swiss-Brazilian school in Curitiba. I hold IB certifications and have been specializing in IB roles since 2024. My background includes a degree in Portuguese-English Language and Literature from PUC-PR, along with editorial experience that sharpens my eye for textual analysis and writing quality. I'm passionate about helping students develop critical thinking skills, craft compelling arguments, and genuinely connect with the literature they study.

My methodology and approach to tutoring
How do you help students prepare for IB assessments?
I break down the assessment criteria so students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. Then we practice—annotating passages, structuring essays, refining thesis statements. I give honest, specific feedback and help students see their blind spots before the exam does.
What can students expect from a typical session?
We'll work with real texts and real assessments. I don't lecture—I guide. Expect to read closely, ask questions, and build arguments together. I'll push you to clarify your ideas and show you how examiners think, so you leave each session with concrete tools you can use independently.
How do you adapt to different learning styles?
I start by listening. Some students think out loud and need dialogue; others need time to process before speaking. Some connect to texts through emotion, others through structure and logic. I adjust my approach accordingly—using visual mapping for some, Socratic questioning for others, and always checking in to see what's clicking and what's not.
