An avid reader, a passionate educator, and a lifelong learner. I believe in the philosophy of being a lifelong learner and apply it to myself as I experience it. Every educator is an observer and a learner. I am a facilitator who elicits responses, helps learners connect with the texts, and draws inferences based on experiences. I am an IBMYP and IBDP Language Literature English facilitator who keeps the content diverse while focusing on building language skills and conceptual understanding. I have an overall teaching experience of 14 years, with four years in IB.

- CAS supervisor, Personal Project supervisor, Extended Essay supervisor, IB Examiner for DP Language A English, One – on – one student mentor, Conducted workshop for teachers to motivate them and to reenforce the student-centric pedagogical approach. Lead PD sessions for teachers for creating effective unit plans, Developing Learner Profile attributes, and various effective methods of assessment. Guided and supervised the curriculum overview and aligned PYP, MYP and DP. Part of the team when the school achieved PYP, MYP and DP authorization.

My methodology and approach to tutoring
What is your teaching philosophy?
As a Language and Literature teacher, I draw examples, analogies, and metaphors from the day to day life to help students make connections with the text and the characters. I keep the themes in the picture and help students identify the purpose, the intended audience, structure, form, etc while reading and discussing. I keep my questions open-ended and provide opportunities for to students to put forth their opinions as well as ask questions.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The first session would ideally be discretely getting to know the student's strengths and challenges in the subject while talking about their interests and gauging the type of help they would need. Ideally, also inquiring about the texts chosen by their school, going through the requirement of the subject criteria wise along with the ideas for IO's and EE (if opted in English)
