About Luz
As an international educator with over a decade of experience in IB programs, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students in MYP and DP classrooms across Asia, Central America, and Europe. My expertise lies in MYP Design and MYP/DP Spanish-B, where I combine a passion for creativity with a commitment to inspiring curiosity and empowering students to approach complex challenges with confidence. Throughout my career, I have embraced leadership roles, including coordinating MYP Curriculum, Service as Action, MYP Projects, and Interdisciplinary Learning. My academic qualifications include a Master’s in International Education and IB from the University of Melbourne, a Specialization in Online Learning Design for Educators from Macquarie University, and Advanced Teaching Certificates from the International Baccalaureate. Additionally, I am certified as a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language, further enhancing my ability to connect with diverse learners. I thrive in supporting middle and high school students in achieving their full potential, particularly in areas such as Spanish Oral (IO), Internal Assessments (IAs), Extended Essays (EEs), Personal Projects, MYP Design e-portfolios, and CAS portfolios. With a focus on achieving the highest assessment bands, I am dedicated to guiding students through a transformative educational journey.

Teaching Style
My methodology and approach to tutoring
What is your teaching philosophy?
As an international educator, I am deeply committed to fostering critical thinking through interdisciplinary learning, project-based experiences, and global perspectives in my lessons. My passion lies in creating enriching educational experiences that prioritize student-centered learning, intercultural awareness, innovative teaching methods, and environmental responsibility. With dedication, adaptability, and a focus on student success, I thrive in diverse educational settings.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Take the time to know them, to have conversation about their lives, for example the languages they speak or the placed they have lived in. Once the ice is broken, I could start figuring out the type of support they need and the achievements they have had so far in their course.

I'm very happy to have had Luz as my son's tutor. She has not only been professional in the subjects but also very caring on a personal level, understanding my son's particular needs.
