About Marianne

I earned my Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Biological Science from University of Santo Tomas and am currently completing my Master of Science in Biology at De La Salle University. This strong foundation in both education and pure science allows me to combine effective pedagogy with deep subject mastery. Even before graduating, I was blessed to be hired by one of the top schools in the Philippines, an early testament to my dedication and competence. I have taught students from junior high school to the collegiate level, but one of my proudest milestones is teaching in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The trust and mentorship I received shaped me into a confident and effective IB instructor. Even after transitioning to tertiary education, I continued mentoring IB students one-on-one, guiding them through lessons, Internal Assessments (IA), and Extended Essays (EE). One of my former students is now a Biology major at the University of Cambridge, a journey we, her mentors, carefully prepared for together with the student herself. My teaching philosophy is simple: no student is incapable, each simply has a unique learning style. From our very first meeting, I carefully assess a student’s strengths, challenges, and preferred way of learning, then adapt my approach accordingly. That is why first meetings are always important, they allow me to understand the student beyond grades and create a personalized strategy that builds confidence, mastery, and long-term success. My sessions follow a structured yet engaging format: motivation, lesson proper, synthesis, and IB-style assessment practice. I train not only content mastery but also exam strategies using IB-based questions. I ensure a safe, lively, and interactive environment, even online, where students feel confident to ask questions, think critically, and connect concepts to real-life applications. More than grades, I care about growth, confidence, and future academic opportunities. My goal is not only to teach but to guide students toward their dream universities and a future they are proud of.
