About Nicolas

I studied marine engineering at university. However, I have always loved teaching. Even before graduating, I began to pursue a career in education. Nowadays, I teach at school, I am an online tutor and I teach at university. My main focus is IBDP: IB Physics and IB Math. For the former, I am an IB examiner. Apart from my career, I love spending time with my wife and my two kids, I'm a history and literature nerd and I play the violin. I have been teaching IB Math and IB Physics for over ten years to students worldwide. Before this, I was a full - time engineering student so it can be said that these two subjects have been a major part of my life for a very long time.

My methodology and approach to tutoring

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy revolves around the fundamental concept that it is students who actually teach themselves. Teachers merely provide the means and tools that enable this to happen. So, teaching is not about getting students to repeat content found in textbooks. Teaching is about presenting students with the appropriate context to learn.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session my main priority is getting to learn about the student and his/her current situation in the course.
