Education should not be confused with shortcuts to success, rather it is about constantly improving yourself as little as 1% everyday until you get to where you want to be.
About Usman
Mathematics and Physics are fundamentals in Electrical Engineering and are a part of an engineer's daily work. From basics of statistics, calculus, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to advanced application-based concepts, one has to be good in mathematics to be a good engineer. My experience and enthusiasm for educating youth provide me with the drive and knowledge to significantly impact student performance. I have taught Physics & Mathematics to students in Grades 6 to 12 for over three years. This includes IB MYP Standard & Extended Mathematics, IBDP Mathematics AI, IGCSE Mathematics, GCE O Level Mathematics D (4024) & GCE O Level Physics (5054). Being an IBDP Maths AI Examiner, I have moderated numerous IAs over the past two years. With the experience of teaching at the top World IB Schools in Pakistan with three International pieces of training and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with Distinction from LUMS, I am highly passionate about guiding my students to cement their concepts and to perform best in their exams.

Teaching Style
My methodology and approach to tutoring
What is your teaching philosophy?
Over the years, my teaching has been tested on various fronts, requiring a unique set of skills. Making the lessons engaging and interactive while linking them to real-life applications is a testament of the deployment of experiential learning, as Mathematics is often defamed by the tag of “dry” & “boring”. Hence, grabbing the listeners' attention is key to a fruitful lesson. I love teaching students who are curious to learn. My lessons are highly interactive, where I give complete freedom to students to ask questions and help them with real-time and step-by-step demonstrations of the concepts. I have worked with students of all types; special-needs students, those with weak concepts which test your patience, the extremely bright ones, and university students. While continuously trying to improve myself, I make sure that my teaching methods try to embody the IB learner profile that bring the best out the candidates. In a nutshell, I would describe my approach to be that of a motivator who would encourage you want to work on Mathematics. Because at the end of the day, one would need to get out of their comfort zone to achieve big.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would try to develop a connection between the student and myself, which can be done by, first of all, knowing why the student felt the need for this lesson (i.e., pinpointing the weak areas) and then convincing the student that they are at the right place, with the right person.

Usman had a great manner with my son who wanted to practise some math concepts connected to units of the first year of the DP program. He was always encouraging, providing opportunities for conversations to gain understanding during the learning sessions. He was well prepared with resources, as well as providing homework and feedback to what was completed. He consistently went above and beyond with such feedback. He gave some great tips of how to handle 'meth' and work through problems when back in the classroom. He was quick to respond to messages, flexible with his hours. I would be happy for my son to work with him again - and recommend him as a teacher.
