About Yazan
I am a former IB student and I have occasionally tutored IB and non-IB students for the past 3 years, specifically, in Mathematics AA HL/SL, Physics HL/SL, and Business Management HL/SL, which I all scored a 7 in. More importantly, I helped students overcome barriers they faced throughout their IB journey by guiding them in the IA writing process and helping them with exam preparation. Over the years, I was able to gain comprehensive teaching skills that I was able to share with my students. Specifically, I have been tutoring Mathematics AA HL/SL, Physics HL/SL, and Business & Management HL/SL. For these subjects, given how different each one is from the other, I make use of different teaching styles.

Teaching Experience
Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL/SL, Physics HL/SL
- I make sure to condense the information into a couple of pages and then focus most of our time on connecting different topics and answering questions. EIt is especially important for them to gain fluency in manipulating queries and finding key elements that will allow them to answer the question. Past papers are also an excellent framework to study off of as it shows students the type of questions they can expect on the exam.
Business Management HL/SL
- I condense the essential information onto a couple of pages and utilize active learning with spaced repetition to remember these critical points. It is also crucial to link all the course content with its context, which is why we often look at case studies.

My methodology and approach to tutoring
What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that there is always a different way to solve a problem. Learning and teaching are all about adaptability and flexibility, so we also adapt and change if one approach doesn't work.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Firstly, it is essential to understand the student's points of weakness to focus on those primarily. I also like to talk to the student and understand their goals and ambitions going into the course to plan and strategize to get there.
